The Aegean White Marble Penny Round Mosaic is a honed natural marble mosaic for customers who want a fine-scale pattern with a softer, more rounded character than angular geometric designs. Its repeated circular pieces create a detailed surface with a strong sense of rhythm, while the pale Aegean White marble keeps the overall palette restrained and versatile.

Rather than relying on bold colour or dramatic contrast, this mosaic creates interest through shape, repetition and natural stone variation. That makes it particularly useful where a feature area needs more texture than a standard field tile but should still sit comfortably within a light, stone-led interior.

What does the Penny Round Mosaic help you achieve?

The main benefit is fine, softly curved pattern.

A conventional field tile creates broad areas of stone with relatively few joints. Penny Round breaks the surface into many smaller circular pieces, increasing the amount of visual texture and giving the installation a more detailed overall character.

Unlike herringbone, which creates a clear directional flow, or hexagon, which produces a stronger geometric structure, Penny Round feels more evenly distributed and softer in shape. This makes it particularly useful where the customer wants pattern without creating a strongly angular or linear surface.

The honed finish keeps reflection comparatively low, allowing the repeated circular geometry and natural marble variation to remain the main features rather than surface shine. Starel describes honed stone as having a smooth, matte-to-low-sheen appearance.

Where does Aegean White Penny Round work best?

The wider Aegean White marble range is suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, interior walls and floors and is compatible with underfloor heating.

In bathrooms, Penny Round can work particularly well across shower areas, bathroom floors, vanity backdrops and niches. The smaller circular pieces introduce more detail than a standard tile and can help distinguish one area from larger adjoining surfaces.

In kitchens, it can create a softly patterned splashback or selected feature wall while remaining easy to coordinate with pale cabinetry, warm oak or walnut and quieter worktops.

It can also suit cloakrooms, entrance areas and compact interiors where a detailed natural-stone surface can give the space more identity without introducing stronger colour.

Why choose this exact Aegean White mosaic?

Choose Penny Round when you want a finer pattern with a softer geometry than hexagon or herringbone.

The round pieces give the mosaic a different visual character from Starel’s Honed Penny Hexagon Mosaic. Both provide a smaller-scale surface, but Penny Round is less angular and can feel more fluid across a wall or floor.

It also differs from the broader Honed Hexagon Mosaic, which gives the individual geometric shape more visual presence. Penny Round is better suited where texture and repetition should be noticed before the outline of each individual piece.

Because Aegean White is natural marble, no two pieces will be identical. Colour, tone, veining and movement will vary across the installation. Samples should therefore be treated as guides rather than exact matches, and dry laying the sheets before fixing allows the natural variation and pattern alignment to be reviewed together.

Which Starel Stones products complement it?

The Aegean White Marble Tile Collection is the strongest companion for larger adjoining surfaces. Its honed and tumbled field-tile formats can provide calmer shower walls, floors or bath surrounds while allowing Penny Round to remain the more detailed feature.

The Aegean White Marble Honed Penny Hexagon Mosaic is the closest direct comparison where a similarly fine pattern but more angular geometry is preferred. The Aegean White Marble Honed Hexagon Mosaic offers a broader geometric interpretation with more visually prominent individual shapes.

For a softer decorative shape, the Aegean White Marble Clover Mosaic is another useful option, while Herringbone, Basket, Large Basket, Diamond and Flower mosaics allow different areas to change pattern without moving away from the wider Aegean White family.

For stronger contrast, the Aegean White and Bluestone Marble Plaid Mosaic combines the pale Aegean White palette with cooler blue-grey stone, providing a more graphic mixed-marble direction.

These products should be treated as coordinated natural stone rather than guaranteed identical matches.

Before ordering and installation

Aegean White marble requires sealing. Use stone-compatible adhesive, grout and pH-neutral, stone-safe cleaning products.

Dry lay the mosaic before fixing so natural variation, sheet transitions and the penny-round pattern can be reviewed together. For floors, showers and other wet areas, confirm the complete installation system, including substrate preparation, waterproofing where required, adhesive, grout and sealing.

Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.

All marble products are suitable for bathroom and shower use. Please seal the product upon installation.

Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.

Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:

  • Visualise the overall layout
  • Balance colour and pattern variations
  • Ensure the best placement of each tile

Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.

Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.

We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.

To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.

We recommend using the grout we supply. These Mapei products are specifically formulated for marble and high-end materials, ensuring the best finish and long-term performance.
We recommend using the adhesive listed below, which we supply. It is specifically suitable for marble, compatible with underfloor heating, and features a rapid setting time, essential, as the adhesive must be fully dry before sealing or grouting.
We recommend using a wet saw with a premium diamond blade.
We strongly advise that you do not book a tiler, plumber or tradespeople before your order arrives and we recommend you receive and check items from us before making any arrangements.
