Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Starel Stones products, samples, delivery, pre-orders, slabs, bespoke production, trade accounts and returns.

Ordering

Many products are available in stocked and pre-order options. On applicable product pages, select the required option and quantity to see whether the item can be added to basket as in stock or pre-order.

In-stock items are typically delivered within 4–10 working days. Pre-order items are typically delivered within 6–12 weeks.

Most tile products are sold in full square metres or per box, and split packs are generally not available. Ordering a little extra is useful for cuts, wastage, breakage and future repairs.

We usually recommend 10–15% extra for most tile orders. Bespoke, clearance and pre-order items may require 15–25%, depending on the project, layout and cutting requirements.

Always ask your installer to confirm the final quantity before ordering.

samples

Yes. We strongly recommend ordering samples before buying marble tiles or mosaics online. A sample helps you review the general tone, finish and character of the stone before committing to a larger order. Natural marble varies, so the sample should be treated as a useful guide rather than an exact match to the final batch.
Not always. Natural stone varies between blocks, batches and production runs. Your sample may show the material family, finish and general tone, but it cannot guarantee the exact veining, movement or markings of a future order. To reduce variation, place your full order as soon as possible after sampling and order enough material at the same time.
Order samples for every material you are seriously considering. If you are comparing white marbles, warm neutrals, mosaics, trims or vanity finishes, it is better to see them side by side in the actual room. For larger schemes, order the tile, mosaic, trim and any related finish samples together so the full palette can be reviewed properly.
A tile sample can help you understand the general stone family, but it should not be used as an exact reference for a slab. Slabs have larger movement, stronger veining and more variation across the surface. For marble, onyx, travertine and quartz slab projects, we recommend viewing the exact slab in person or requesting full-slab images and video.

Once you have selected your preferred sample, confirm the product with your installer, calculate the required quantity, allow for wastage and place the full order while stock is available. For natural stone, ordering early and ordering the full amount together gives you the best chance of batch consistency.

Tiles and mosaics

Many marble tiles can be used on floors and walls, but suitability depends on the product, finish, room, substrate and installation method. Always check the product page and ask a qualified installer before ordering.

Most natural stone tiles should be sealed with a suitable stone sealer. Your installer should advise based on the material, finish and location.

Slabs

Yes. Slabs can be viewed at the Southampton Slab Gallery. We recommend booking an appointment in advance, especially if you are interested in specific slabs.

If you cannot visit the Slab Gallery, you can request additional slab photos or videos. Please email the product names and your contact details to enquiries@starelstones.co.uk.

Yes, where suitable. Please provide your fabricator’s delivery address, contact name, phone number and unloading requirements before dispatch.

Vanity units

Starel vanity units include premium cabinet options such as oak and walnut ranges, with optional stone tops, splashbacks and other additions depending on the product.

Base vanity units are sold as cabinet-only, with tops, splashbacks and other essentials offered as optional extras where applicable.

Bespoke production

Yes. Starel can support bespoke production, including custom tile sizes, mosaics, vanity tops, splashbacks, bath surrounds, kitchen tops and other stone interior elements.

Custom tile sizes may require a minimum order quantity.

Bespoke and custom orders typically require a longer lead time. Certain fabrications can take 10 working days, while more complex production can often be 6–12 weeks, depending on the product, material and specification.

Delivery

In-stock items are typically delivered within 4–10 working days. Express delivery may be available on selected orders and is generally delivered within 1-3 working days.

Yes, delivery can be arranged to a customer’s chosen fabricator, installer or project site where suitable. Full receiving details and access information should be provided before dispatch.

Delivery cost depends on product type, order size, pallet requirements, delivery speed and destination. For online orders, the delivery fee can be confirmed at checkout.

International delivery may be available depending on the product, order size and destination. Customers should contact Starel before ordering.

Returns

Stock tiles may be eligible for return where permitted by law and where they are unused, complete and suitable for resale. Bespoke, pre-order or custom items may not be returnable once confirmed or produced.

Return eligibility depends on whether the product is stock, bespoke, custom, pre-order, slab, used, installed or damaged. Please read the Returns Policy before ordering.

Note the damage on the delivery paperwork, take photographs and contact Starel as soon as possible, ideally on the delivery day and within 48 hours.

Trade

Yes. Trade customers can apply for access to trade pricing, offers and early product updates.

Interior designers, architects, developers, fabricators, installers, tilers and professional buyers may apply.

Payments

Yes. Starel Stones accepts major debit and credit cards through our approved online payment provider. Card payments can be used for standard online orders, including eligible tiles, mosaics, slabs, vanity units, fixtures, accessories and finishing products.

For security, full card details are processed by the payment provider and are not stored by Starel Stones. If a card payment is not successful, please check that your billing address, card details and bank authentication step have been completed correctly before trying again.

Apple Pay and Google Pay may be available at checkout on compatible devices, browsers and payment cards. If your device and payment method are eligible, the option will appear automatically during checkout.

These express payment methods can make checkout faster by using the billing, delivery and payment details already saved to your device or account. Before confirming payment, please check that the delivery address and contact details are correct, especially for heavy goods, slab orders, pallet deliveries or project-site deliveries.

Yes. Starel Stones uses a secure checkout designed to process payments safely through approved payment providers. Sensitive card details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored directly by Starel Stones. For some transactions, your bank may ask you to complete an additional security step, such as app approval, a one-time passcode or biometric confirmation. This helps protect both the customer and the order from unauthorised payment activity. If you are placing a high-value or bespoke order and would prefer to speak to the team before paying, contact us before completing checkout.

For standard online orders, payment is usually taken when the order is placed. This allows Starel Stones to reserve stock, begin processing the order and prepare the goods for delivery or collection.

For pre-order, bespoke, custom, fabricated or made-to-measure products, payment may be required before sourcing, production, cutting or fabrication begins. Larger project orders may have separate payment terms confirmed in writing before work starts.

Do not book installers, fabricators or site labour until your order has been confirmed and any delivery or fabrication timelines have been agreed.

Some bespoke or fabricated stone orders may need to be quoted before payment can be made. This applies where pricing depends on slab selection, measurements, edge details, cut-outs, polishing, finishing, delivery requirements or project complexity.

For products such as kitchen tops, islands, vanity tops, splashbacks, bath surrounds, shower walls, door frames, architraves, steps and other made-to-measure stonework, we recommend submitting a quote request first. Once the specification has been reviewed and approved, the Starel team will confirm the next payment step.
