Pietra Marble Honed Pencil Liner Trim is a slim natural marble wall trim designed to complete tiled edges and add definition within a planned layout. Each piece is 305 mm long with a 20 mm face and a softly rounded pencil profile. The honed finish reduces surface reflection, while the marble’s dark grey colouring and fine pale movement introduce a subtle stone detail.
HOW TO USE IT
Use this marble pencil liner trim to finish the exposed edge of a splashback, cap half-height wall tiling or create a narrow transition between tiles and another wall finish. It can also frame a bathroom niche, define a decorative panel or separate adjoining tile formats within the same scheme.
Its narrow profile makes it a useful choice where a standard tile edge would feel unfinished but a wider dado moulding would be too visually prominent. It provides a considered line around the installation while allowing the main tiles or mosaics to remain the focus.
WHERE IT WORKS BEST
The trim works particularly well on interior bathroom, cloakroom and kitchen walls. It can be positioned around tiled niches, above vanity splashbacks, along the top of half-height tiling or as a dividing line within a feature wall.
Corners, returns and junctions should be planned with the installer before ordering. Where a flush transition is required, the profile depth, adhesive build-up and thickness of the adjoining tiles should also be checked.
COORDINATING STAREL PRODUCTS
For a related dark-grey marble scheme, consider using the pencil liner with the Pietra Grey Marble Tile Collection. The field tiles provide a larger, quieter surface, while the pencil liner adds a narrow finishing detail around selected edges.
The Pietra Grey Marble Dado Moulding can be used elsewhere in the same room where a wider and more architectural border is required. Pietra Grey Geo Marble Mosaic or Pietra Grey Chopped Marble Square Mosaic can introduce a smaller pattern within a niche, splashback or feature section.
For a contrasting white-and-grey design, the Calacatta White and Pietra Grey Octagon Mosaic brings Pietra Grey detailing into a lighter marble composition. As these are natural-stone products and may come from different batches, compare samples together before ordering rather than assuming an exact colour or vein match. Starel currently lists Pietra Grey field tiles, geometric mosaics, mixed Calacatta and Pietra Grey mosaics, and a coordinating dado profile.
ORDERING, INSTALLATION AND CARE
Each 305 mm piece provides approximately 0.305 linear metres of coverage before joints, cuts and wastage. Calculate the full length of the intended run and include an appropriate allowance for corners, fitting adjustments and future repairs.
Natural marble varies in colour, tone, veining and movement. These differences are part of the material’s character rather than defects, and product imagery should be treated as a guide. Arrange the trim alongside the selected tiles before installation to achieve a balanced result.
Marble may require sealing depending on the application and installation system. Confirm the appropriate treatment with the installer or sealer manufacturer, and use pH-neutral products formulated for natural stone during routine cleaning. Professional cutting and installation are recommended.
Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.
Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.
Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:
Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.
Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.
We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.
To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.
