The Calacatta Viola Arabescato Marble Tile Collection is a honed natural marble range for customers who want strong stone movement and colour without moving into a uniformly dark surface. Its pale marble background is crossed by violet, burgundy and wine-toned natural veining, giving each installation a distinctive composition shaped by the individual pieces rather than a repeated manufactured pattern.

The collection spans seven 10mm formats — 150 × 75mm, 305 × 75mm, 305 × 100mm, 200 × 200mm, 305 × 305mm, 610 × 305mm and 610 × 610mm — making it one of Starel’s more flexible Viola marble ranges.

What can you achieve with Calacatta Viola Arabescato?

The breadth of formats allows the tile scale to change according to the surface and the role you want the marble to play.

The 150 × 75mm, 305 × 75mm and 305 × 100mm formats create a stronger linear rhythm with more visible grout joints. They are particularly useful for splashbacks, shower walls, niches and smaller feature sections where the layout itself should remain part of the design.

The 200 × 200mm and 305 × 305mm squares create a more regular grid, while the larger 610 × 305mm and 610 × 610mm options reduce the number of joints and allow broader areas of the marble’s veining to read across each individual tile.

Different formats can therefore be used across adjoining surfaces without changing material family.

Where does this collection work best?

Calacatta Viola Arabescato is suitable for interior walls and floors, including bathrooms and kitchens, and is compatible with underfloor heating.

In bathrooms, it can be used across floors, shower walls, bath surrounds and vanity backdrops. Smaller formats work well where greater detail is wanted, while larger tiles suit broader surfaces where fewer joints and more continuous stone movement are preferred.

In kitchens, the collection can introduce natural colour across floors, splashbacks or selected wall areas and works particularly well alongside warm oak, walnut, pale cabinetry or quieter stone surfaces.

It can also be used in cloakrooms, hallways and living spaces where the marble is intended to become a visible feature rather than a neutral background.

Why choose this exact marble tile collection?

The main advantage of Calacatta Viola Arabescato is the combination of expressive natural movement and format choice.

Rather than being restricted to one tile size, the collection allows you to change scale between different rooms and surfaces while keeping a connected Viola marble palette. The honed finish also keeps surface reflection relatively controlled, allowing the colour and veining of the stone to provide the visual interest.

As natural marble, no two tiles will be identical. Tone, veining and pattern will vary throughout an order. Samples are useful for understanding the general character but cannot represent every piece. Dry laying before fixing allows stronger and quieter tiles to be distributed across the finished surface in a more considered way.

Which Starel Stones products complement Calacatta Viola Arabescato?

For smaller-scale pattern, Calacatta Viola mosaics provide the closest decorative route. Chevron, medallion, picket, octagon, pill and other mosaic formats can introduce the Viola palette within niches, splashbacks and feature sections.

For finishing details, Arabescato Viola Marble Pencil Trim, Dado Moulding and Skirting can provide coordinated edges, transitions and wall-to-floor details where the exact tone and finish work with the selected tiles.

For larger-format surfaces, the Calacatta Viola Marble XL Slab Tile 1200 × 600 × 20mm Polished offers a more continuous stone treatment with fewer joints. Full Calacatta Viola and Arabescato Viola marble slabs can also be selected for suitable vanity tops, splashbacks, fireplaces, furniture and other bespoke pieces through Starel Atelier.

These products should be treated as coordinated natural stone rather than guaranteed exact matches, particularly where different finishes, batches or individual slabs are involved.

Before ordering and installation

Calacatta Viola Arabescato marble requires sealing. Use stone-compatible adhesive, grout and pH-neutral cleaning products, and confirm installation requirements for the chosen format and application.

Order a sample as a guide and dry lay the tiles before fixing. For floors and wet areas, assess the complete installation system, including substrate preparation, sealing and final finish.

Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.

All marble products are suitable for bathroom and shower use. Please seal the product upon installation.

Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.

Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:

  • Visualise the overall layout
  • Balance colour and pattern variations
  • Ensure the best placement of each tile

Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.

Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.

We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.

To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.

We recommend using the grout we supply. These Mapei products are specifically formulated for marble and high-end materials, ensuring the best finish and long-term performance.
We recommend using the adhesive listed below, which we supply. It is specifically suitable for marble, compatible with underfloor heating, and features a rapid setting time, essential, as the adhesive must be fully dry before sealing or grouting.
We recommend using a wet saw with a premium diamond blade.
We strongly advise that you do not book a tiler, plumber or tradespeople before your order arrives and we recommend you receive and check items from us before making any arrangements.
