The Calacatta Amber Marble Pencil Trim is a slender honed marble finishing piece measuring 305 × 18 × 15mm and sold by the piece. Its narrow pencil profile is designed to give tiled surfaces a clean, considered endpoint, whether used to finish an exposed edge, frame a recessed niche or splashback, or introduce a slim dividing line between different tile formats. The current Starel product record confirms it as honed marble within the Calacatta Amber collection, with suitability for interior wall and floor applications including bathrooms and kitchens.
It works particularly well around bathroom niches, kitchen splashbacks, half-height tiled walls and decorative panels, where a broader moulding could feel too prominent. Calacatta Amber combines a milky white background with delicate amber-toned veining, giving the trim a warm, understated character. Its compact profile adds definition without drawing attention away from the main tiled surface.
For the closest coordination, pair it with the Calacatta Amber Marble Tile Collection, available in honed metro, square and rectangular formats including 150 × 75mm, 305 × 75mm, 305 × 305mm and 610 × 305mm. The Calacatta Amber Dado Moulding can provide a broader architectural border elsewhere in the same wall scheme, while the Calacatta Amber Marble Skirting carries the same material character through to the wall-to-floor junction. The July 2026 product export confirms all three trims within the same Calacatta Amber collection.
For decorative areas, coordinating Calacatta Amber mosaics can introduce pattern while keeping the palette connected. Current Starel products include Chevron, Clover and other Calacatta Amber mosaic formats, making the pencil trim useful for framing or separating smaller-scale feature sections. The Calacatta Amber range also extends to larger-format surfaces, including a honed 1200 × 600 × 20mm XL slab tile, for projects that need the same material language at a larger scale.
Choose this exact trim when the design needs a discreet warm-marble edge rather than a dominant border. Its slim 18mm face makes it especially useful for smaller details while retaining a clear relationship with the wider Calacatta Amber scheme. As this is natural marble, variation in colour, tone, veining and pattern should be expected. Dry lay the trim with the selected tiles or mosaics before fixing so the variation can be arranged thoughtfully. Sealing is required, and ongoing care should use suitable pH-neutral, stone-safe products.
Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.
Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.
Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:
Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.
Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.
We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.
To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.
