The Arabescato Amazon Marble Madras Mosaic is a honed natural marble mosaic for customers who want the distinctive colour and movement of Arabescato Amazon expressed at a smaller, more detailed scale. Supplied on 300 × 305 × 10mm sheets, it is made from 48 × 48mm marble pieces arranged in a structured Madras pattern.
The format gives the surface more rhythm than a conventional field tile while allowing the marble’s green-led natural movement to remain central to the design.
What does the Madras Mosaic help you achieve?
The main benefit is patterned natural stone without losing material character.
Large field tiles create broader areas of marble with fewer joints. The Madras Mosaic breaks the surface into smaller repeated pieces, introducing more texture, more grout definition and a stronger geometric rhythm.
That makes it particularly useful for distinguishing one area within a larger room. A shower floor, niche or vanity backdrop can use the mosaic for greater detail, while larger Arabescato Amazon tiles keep surrounding walls quieter.
The honed finish keeps reflection relatively restrained, allowing colour, veining and the repeated 48 × 48mm geometry to remain the main visual features rather than surface shine.
Where does Arabescato Amazon Madras work best?
The mosaic is particularly well suited to bathrooms, kitchens and smaller feature-led areas.
In bathrooms, it can work across floors, shower areas, niches and vanity backdrops. The smaller-scale pattern helps define these zones while keeping the stone palette connected to larger Arabescato Amazon surfaces elsewhere in the room.
In kitchens, it can create a distinctive splashback or selected wall section where the natural green movement can provide colour without requiring an entirely different decorative material.
It can also work effectively in cloakrooms, entrance spaces and other compact interiors where a patterned natural-marble surface can give the room more identity.
Why choose this exact Arabescato Amazon mosaic?
Choose this product when you want the expressive character of Arabescato Amazon in a more detailed geometric format.
The wider Arabescato Amazon collection already includes larger field tiles and a Mixed Window Mosaic. The Madras Mosaic offers a different balance: simpler and more repetitive than the Window pattern, but more detailed than standard field tiling.
Its 48 × 48mm pieces make the natural variation appear more frequently across the surface, which can create a lively but still ordered composition.
Arabescato Amazon itself is a strongly individual natural marble. Starel’s current field-tile page shows honed formats across metro, square and rectangular sizes, while older product information describes dark green, gold and purple movement over a pale marble background.
Because the stone is natural, no two sheets will be identical. Tone, veining and colour balance will vary. Samples should therefore be treated as guides rather than exact matches, and dry laying is strongly recommended before fixing.
Which Starel Stones products complement it?
The Arabescato Amazon Marble Tile Collection is the strongest companion for larger adjoining walls and floors. Its honed formats allow the same broader stone direction to continue without repeating the smaller Madras pattern everywhere.
For a more decorative geometric treatment, the Arabescato Amazon Mixed Window Marble Mosaic provides another same-family option. Its framed pattern creates a more architectural surface where the customer wants greater pattern complexity.
For finishing details, Starel currently carries Arabescato Amazon Marble Dado Moulding and Arabescato Amazon Marble Pencil Trim, providing coordinated ways to resolve edges, borders and wall transitions. The broader collection also includes matching skirting.
Where a larger visual scale is needed, the Arabescato Amazon Marble XL Slab Tile 1200 × 600 × 20mm Honed can reduce joints across broader surfaces. Full Arabescato Amazon marble slabs can also extend the material into suitable vanity tops, splashbacks, fireplaces, furniture and other fabricated pieces through Starel Atelier.
These products should be treated as coordinated natural stone rather than guaranteed identical matches.
Before ordering and installation
Use stone-compatible adhesive, grout and pH-neutral, stone-safe cleaning products. Natural marble should be sealed appropriately for the intended application.
Dry lay the sheets before fixing so colour variation, sheet transitions and the Madras pattern can be reviewed together. For floors, showers and wet areas, confirm the complete installation system, including substrate preparation, waterproofing where required, fixing products, grout and sealing.
Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.
Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.
Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:
Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.
Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.
We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.
To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.
