The Carrara Marble Pencil Liner Trim is a slender honed marble finishing piece measuring 305 × 20 × 15mm. Its narrow pencil profile is designed to give tiled surfaces a clean, considered endpoint, whether used to finish an exposed tile edge, frame a recessed niche or decorative panel, or create a slim transition between different tile formats.
It works particularly well in bathrooms, kitchens, cloakrooms and other interior wall schemes where a full-width moulding would feel too pronounced. Around splashbacks, half-height tiled walls and feature areas, the trim adds definition without competing with the main surface. Carrara’s soft white background and delicate grey veining give it a restrained appearance, while the honed finish keeps the surface smooth and low sheen.
For the closest material relationship, pair the trim with Starel Stones’ Carrara Marble Tile Collection, available in a range of honed formats for walls and floors. Carrara mosaics can also be used alongside it where the design calls for a change of pattern or scale. Starel’s Carrara collection includes herringbone, hexagon, diamond, kite, square, pill, medallion and scallop-shell mosaics, giving the pencil liner a useful role as a framing or transition detail around more decorative sections.
Choose this exact product when the project needs a discreet marble edge rather than a broader dado moulding or skirting. Its slim proportions make it particularly useful for smaller architectural details while retaining the same Carrara material character as the surrounding tiles.
As Carrara is a natural marble, colour, tone, pattern and veining will vary between pieces. Dry lay the trim with the selected tiles or mosaics before fixing so the natural variation can be distributed thoughtfully. Sealing is required, and ongoing care should use suitable pH-neutral, stone-safe products. The current Starel product data lists the trim for interior wall and floor applications, including bathrooms and kitchens; final placement, cutting and installation should be confirmed for the specific project.
Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.
Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.
Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:
Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.
Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.
We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.
To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.
