Nero Marquina Honed Skirting is a substantial natural marble skirting designed to finish the junction between an interior wall and floor. Its shaped upper profile creates a more pronounced architectural detail than a plain cut strip or slim skirting, helping the perimeter of a tiled room feel considered and complete.
The marble has a deep black background with natural white veining, while the honed finish gives the surface a smooth, low-sheen appearance. Choose this skirting where you want the wall-to-floor transition to become a visible part of the design rather than simply blending into the adjoining surfaces.
HOW TO USE IT
Install the skirting at the base of an interior wall to create a defined transition above a marble, natural-stone or compatible tiled floor. It can be used beneath a tiled wall or alongside another suitably prepared wall finish, subject to the chosen installation system.
The profile works particularly well around bathrooms, kitchens and other stone-led interiors where a stronger perimeter detail is required. It can also provide a dark framing line around a black-and-white marble floor or connect a Nero Black floor with other black marble details used elsewhere in the room.
For a lower-profile finish, consider the Nero Marquina Honed Slim Skirting. The full skirting shown here is the more suitable choice where a deeper, more architectural base detail is preferred.
COORDINATING PRODUCTS
Pair the skirting with the Nero Black Marble Tile Collection to continue the same dark marble palette across walls or floors. The collection includes honed metro, square, rectangular and triangular formats, allowing the stone to be used in both structured layouts and broader tiled surfaces.
Use the Nero Black Marble Pencil Trim where a narrow edge, dividing line or framed wall detail is required. Nero Black Marble Herringbone Mosaic can introduce a smaller pattern within a niche, splashback or feature section while retaining the same overall material character.
For a contrasting scheme, coordinate the skirting with Checkerboard Honed Calacatta and Nero Marquina Marble. The black skirting can form a defined perimeter around the monochrome pattern and visually connect its darker sections.
These are separate natural-marble products and may come from different batches, so an exact colour or vein match cannot be guaranteed. Samples should be treated as guides, and the selected tiles, trims, mosaics and skirting should ideally be viewed together before ordering.
ORDERING AND INSTALLATION
Measure the full perimeter where the skirting will be installed and include an appropriate allowance for corners, cuts and fitting adjustments. Corner details, returns and joints should be planned with the installer before ordering.
The skirting has a deeper profile than the 10 mm Nero Black field tiles. Its projection, adhesive build-up and junction with adjoining tiles or wall finishes should therefore be confirmed as part of the installation plan.
Natural marble varies in colour, tone and veining. This variation is part of the material’s character rather than a defect. Arrange the pieces before fixing so that quieter and more strongly veined sections can be distributed across the room in a balanced way.
Marble requires suitable sealing and should be cleaned with pH-neutral products formulated for natural stone. The correct sealer, adhesive and installation method will depend on the substrate and application. Professional cutting and installation are recommended.

Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.

Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.
Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.
We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.
To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.
In-stock tiles and mosaics are shipped from our UK warehouses, with standard delivery typically arriving within one week. An express option of approximately 1–3 working days is available at checkout, subject to postcode and carrier availability.
Main orders are delivered on pallets via trusted third-party kerbside carriers, and you will receive a notification the day before with an 8am–5pm delivery window. If no one is available to receive the delivery and a second attempt is required, re-delivery charges may apply. Where possible, pallets can be left in a safe location if this is clearly noted in the order comments at checkout. Please note that drivers are unable to open sealed pallets and are not permitted to carry goods into your property.
