The Arabescato Viola Marble Dado Moulding is a honed natural marble trim designed to create a defined border, transition or finishing point within a tiled wall. Measuring 305 × 40 × 20mm, its shaped profile adds more depth and presence than a pencil liner while carrying the distinctive character of Arabescato Viola into the finer architectural details of a scheme. Use it above half-height tiling, around splashbacks or to frame feature sections, paired with the Arabescato Viola Marble Tile – Batch 3 Collection, matching pencil trim and skirting, or coordinating Arabescato Viola mosaics.

The Arabescato Viola Marble Dado Moulding is a shaped, honed natural marble trim measuring 305 × 40 × 20mm and sold by the piece. Its purpose is to give a tiled wall a clear, considered finishing detail, whether used to complete the top of a partially tiled surface, form a decorative horizontal border or create a transition between different tile formats and feature areas. Compared with a slim pencil liner, its broader profile introduces greater depth and architectural definition.

It works particularly well above half-height bathroom or cloakroom tiling, along kitchen splashbacks, and around niches, mosaic panels or other framed sections where a plain cut tile edge could leave the installation feeling unresolved. The honed finish keeps the surface soft and low sheen, allowing Arabescato Viola’s expressive natural movement to remain part of the design rather than making the trim feel overly decorative.

For the closest coordination, pair the moulding with the Arabescato Viola Marble Tile – Batch 3 Collection, currently available in honed 200 × 200 × 10mm and 305 × 305 × 10mm formats. Where the same scheme needs a slimmer finishing detail, the Arabescato Viola Marble Pencil Trim can be used around exposed edges, niches or dividing lines, while the Arabescato Viola Marble Skirting continues the marble palette at the wall-to-floor junction.

Arabescato Viola mosaics can also introduce pattern within feature areas. Current Starel options include Checkerboard, Clover, Savoy Frame and Madras mosaics, as well as mixed-stone designs such as the Arabescato Viola and Nero Black Octagon Midi Marble Mosaic. These can work particularly well in niches, splashbacks or framed panels where the dado moulding is used to define the transition between the feature and the surrounding tile field.

Choose this exact dado moulding where the project needs a more pronounced marble border than a pencil trim, while keeping the finishing detail tied to the wider Arabescato Viola material palette. As this is natural marble, colour, veining, tone and pattern will vary from piece to piece. Dry lay the moulding with the selected tiles or mosaics before fixing so that the natural variation can be distributed thoughtfully. Sealing should form part of the natural-stone installation, and ongoing care should use suitable pH-neutral, stone-safe products. Final cutting, positioning and installation should be confirmed for the specific project.

Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.

All marble products are suitable for bathroom and shower use. Please seal the product upon installation.

Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.

Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:

  • Visualise the overall layout
  • Balance colour and pattern variations
  • Ensure the best placement of each tile

Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.

Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.

We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.

To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.

We recommend using the grout we supply. These Mapei products are specifically formulated for marble and high-end materials, ensuring the best finish and long-term performance.
We recommend using the adhesive listed below, which we supply. It is specifically suitable for marble, compatible with underfloor heating, and features a rapid setting time, essential, as the adhesive must be fully dry before sealing or grouting.
We recommend using a wet saw with a premium diamond blade.
We strongly advise that you do not book a tiler, plumber or tradespeople before your order arrives and we recommend you receive and check items from us before making any arrangements.
