The Arabescato Viola Marble Skirting is a honed natural marble profile measuring 305 × 126 × 20mm, designed to finish the base of an interior wall and create a more resolved junction between wall and floor surfaces. Rather than introducing painted wood skirting into a stone-led scheme, it allows the same marble character to continue around the perimeter while also helping protect the lower section of the wall from everyday knocks and cleaning. The current Starel product record lists it for interior wall, floor, bathroom and kitchen applications, with sealing required.

Arabescato Viola is distinguished by a light marble field crossed by strong burgundy, violet and darker veining, giving the skirting much more visual movement than a plain neutral perimeter detail. Its honed finish keeps the surface soft and low sheen, allowing the natural pattern of the stone to provide the character. It works particularly well in bathrooms, cloakrooms, kitchens, entrance areas and hallways, especially where Arabescato Viola is already being used on the floor or wall and the aim is to maintain material continuity through the finishing details.

For the closest coordination, pair the skirting with Starel’s Arabescato Viola Marble Tile – Batch 3 Collection, available in honed 200 × 200 × 10mm and 305 × 305 × 10mm formats. As this skirting is not itself labelled Batch 3, the exact pieces should be viewed together before ordering where a particularly close tonal relationship is important.

Where the same scheme requires different types of finishing detail, the Arabescato Viola Marble Pencil Trim provides a slimmer profile for exposed edges, niches and narrow transitions, while the Arabescato Viola Marble Dado Moulding can create a broader decorative border higher on the wall. Decorative sections can also be developed with coordinating Arabescato Viola Checkerboard, Clover, Savoy Frame or Madras mosaics, allowing pattern to be introduced while retaining a clear relationship with the wider marble palette.

Choose this exact skirting when the project needs a substantial 126mm-high marble perimeter detail that carries Arabescato Viola through to the wall-to-floor junction rather than treating the skirting as a separate material. As Arabescato Viola is a natural marble, variation in colour, tone, veining and pattern should be expected from piece to piece. Dry laying the skirting with the selected tiles before fixing will help distribute that variation thoughtfully. Sealing is required, and ongoing care should use suitable pH-neutral, stone-safe products.

Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.

All marble products are suitable for bathroom and shower use. Please seal the product upon installation.

Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.

Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:

  • Visualise the overall layout
  • Balance colour and pattern variations
  • Ensure the best placement of each tile

Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.

Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.

We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.

To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.

We recommend using the grout we supply. These Mapei products are specifically formulated for marble and high-end materials, ensuring the best finish and long-term performance.
We recommend using the adhesive listed below, which we supply. It is specifically suitable for marble, compatible with underfloor heating, and features a rapid setting time, essential, as the adhesive must be fully dry before sealing or grouting.
We recommend using a wet saw with a premium diamond blade.
We strongly advise that you do not book a tiler, plumber or tradespeople before your order arrives and we recommend you receive and check items from us before making any arrangements.
