The Calacatta White Octagon Marble Tile Collection is a honed natural marble surface for customers who want the character of Calacatta White combined with a more decorative geometric layout. Rather than using a conventional square or rectangular field tile, the design is built around pale Calacatta marble octagons with selectable marble insert squares, allowing the small contrasting detail to become part of the overall composition.
This makes the collection particularly useful where the floor or wall needs more pattern and structure without moving into the finer scale of a conventional mosaic.
What can you achieve with Calacatta White Octagon tiles?
The octagon format gives the surface an established geometric rhythm. The larger white marble sections keep Calacatta White as the principal material, while the smaller insert squares punctuate the layout and can introduce either subtle tonal variation or stronger colour contrast depending on the selected marble option.
This gives you more control over the finished character than a plain white field tile. A quieter insert can keep the scheme restrained, while a darker or warmer marble insert can make the geometry more pronounced.
The honed finish helps keep surface reflection controlled, allowing the octagonal shape, grout pattern and natural marble variation to provide the visual interest rather than relying on high gloss.
Where does this collection work best?
Calacatta White Octagon is suitable for interior walls and floors, including bathrooms and kitchens, and is compatible with underfloor heating.
The format is particularly effective on bathroom floors, cloakrooms, hallways, entrance areas and kitchen floors where a repeated geometric pattern can help define the space. It can also be used on selected walls where the octagon-and-insert arrangement is intended to become a feature.
In bathrooms, the pale Calacatta base works naturally with white sanitaryware and can be warmed with oak or walnut vanity units. The insert colour can then be chosen to connect the floor with other materials in the room.
For larger bathrooms, a patterned octagon floor can be balanced with quieter Calacatta White field tiles on shower walls or bath surrounds so the geometry does not need to continue across every surface.
Why choose this exact Calacatta White product?
The main reason to choose this collection is the combination of natural marble and configurable pattern.
Standard Calacatta White tiles create interest through veining and tonal movement. The Octagon collection adds another layer: shape and contrast become part of the design. The selectable marble inserts allow the same white Calacatta foundation to be interpreted differently depending on the wider room palette.
This makes the product especially useful for customers who like classic geometric stone floors but want the individuality of real marble rather than a repeated printed pattern.
Natural variation remains important. The Calacatta White sections and marble inserts will vary in colour, veining and tone, so samples should be treated as guides rather than exact matches. Dry laying before fixing is particularly useful with this format because it allows both the natural stone variation and the repeated octagon pattern to be reviewed together.
Which Starel Stones products complement Calacatta White Octagon?
The Calacatta White Marble Tile Collection is the strongest companion for adjoining surfaces. Its metro, square and larger rectangular formats can provide calmer shower walls, bath surrounds or wider floors while retaining a related white-marble palette.
For smaller decorative sections, Calacatta White mosaics can introduce another scale of pattern within niches, splashbacks or feature areas. Starel’s broader Calacatta collection includes herringbone, fan, diamond, clover and other mosaic formats.
For finishing details, the Calacatta White Pencil Liner can create a slim edge or dividing line, while Calacatta mouldings and skirting can provide more substantial transitions around tiled walls.
Where an even stronger black-and-white treatment is preferred, Starel also carries Calacatta octagon mosaics with Nero Marquina inserts, providing a related decorative route at a smaller scale.
These related products should be treated as coordinated natural stone rather than guaranteed identical matches.
Before ordering and installation
Calacatta White marble requires sealing. Use stone-compatible adhesive, grout and pH-neutral cleaning products, and confirm the installation requirements for the intended application.
Dry lay the tiles before fixing so the Calacatta variation, insert colour and repeating octagon pattern can be reviewed together. For floors and wet areas, assess the complete installation system, including substrate preparation, fixing, sealing and final finish.
Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.
Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.
Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:
Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.
Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.
We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.
To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.
