The Ceppo Romano Marble Tile Collection is a honed natural marble range for customers who want warmer colour and more visible stone character than a conventional pale or finely veined marble. Its brown-toned surface is defined by natural variation and a distinctive fragmented pattern, giving the finished installation a more textured visual character even though the surface itself is honed.

The collection is available in two 10mm formats — 305 × 305mm square tiles and 305 × 75mm linear tiles — allowing the same marble to be interpreted in two noticeably different ways.

What can you achieve with Ceppo Romano marble tiles?

The main strength of Ceppo Romano is its ability to create interest through the structure of the stone itself.

The 305 × 305mm square format gives the material a balanced, regular grid and allows each tile enough space to show its individual pattern. It works well where the marble is intended to read as a continuous field across a floor or wall.

The 305 × 75mm format creates a more linear surface with additional grout joints and a stronger sense of rhythm. It can be used for smaller feature sections, splashbacks, shower walls or layouts where a more detailed tile pattern is preferred.

Using the two sizes across adjoining areas can also help define separate surfaces without changing material.

Where does Ceppo Romano work best?

The collection is suitable for interior walls and floors, including bathrooms and kitchens, and can be used with underfloor heating.

In bathrooms, Ceppo Romano can work across floors, shower walls, bath surrounds or selected feature areas. Its warmer brown colouring makes it particularly effective alongside oak or walnut vanity units, pale sanitaryware and restrained metal finishes.

In kitchens, it can introduce natural stone across floors or tiled wall areas and provide a warmer alternative to white or grey marble. The square format is particularly suited to larger continuous surfaces, while the narrower tile can introduce more detail around splashbacks or smaller wall sections.

Ceppo Romano can also work well in hallways, cloakrooms and living spaces where the floor or wall is intended to carry more material texture and visual movement.

Why choose this exact marble tile collection?

Choose Ceppo Romano when you want natural marble that feels more grounded and architectural than a classic white-veined stone.

Its fragmented visual character gives the surface depth without relying on dramatic linear veining, while the brown colour direction brings warmth into the room. The honed finish keeps reflection relatively controlled, helping the natural pattern remain the main feature.

The choice between square and linear formats is another useful distinction. Rather than changing material to create a different scale or rhythm, you can alter the layout while retaining the same Ceppo Romano palette.

As a natural stone, every tile will vary in tone, pattern and movement. Samples are useful for understanding the general character but cannot represent the full variation within an order. Dry laying before fixing allows the stronger and quieter pieces to be balanced across the finished surface.

Which Starel Stones products complement Ceppo Romano?

Starel does not currently list a confirmed same-name Ceppo Romano mosaic, trim or slab family, so complementary products should be selected by material relationship rather than presented as exact matches.

For a quieter warm neutral, the Belgravia Marble Tile Collection can work alongside Ceppo Romano where adjoining areas need less pattern. Botticino Marble Tiles provide another warm beige option and can help soften the transition into lighter surfaces.

The White Emperador Marble Tile Collection can also complement Ceppo Romano where a pale, warm marble is preferred against its deeper brown tones. These stones should be treated as complementary rather than matched.

Where bespoke stone is required, Starel Atelier can also support suitable vanity tops, splashbacks or other fabricated pieces in a separately selected marble, allowing the Ceppo Romano tiles to remain the main patterned surface.

Before ordering and installation

Ceppo Romano marble requires sealing. Use stone-compatible adhesive, grout and pH-neutral cleaning products, and confirm the installation requirements for the selected format and application.

Order a sample as a guide and dry lay the tiles before fixing. For floors and wet areas, assess the complete installation system, including substrate preparation, sealing and final finish, before installation begins.

Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.

All marble products are suitable for bathroom and shower use. Please seal the product upon installation.

Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.

Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:

  • Visualise the overall layout
  • Balance colour and pattern variations
  • Ensure the best placement of each tile

Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.

Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.

We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.

To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.

We recommend using the grout we supply. These Mapei products are specifically formulated for marble and high-end materials, ensuring the best finish and long-term performance.
We recommend using the adhesive listed below, which we supply. It is specifically suitable for marble, compatible with underfloor heating, and features a rapid setting time, essential, as the adhesive must be fully dry before sealing or grouting.
We recommend using a wet saw with a premium diamond blade.
We strongly advise that you do not book a tiler, plumber or tradespeople before your order arrives and we recommend you receive and check items from us before making any arrangements.
