The Calacatta Viola Monet Marble Tile Collection is a honed natural marble range for customers who want the expressive character of Viola stone in a lighter, more balanced selection. Its off-white marble background is crossed by magenta, purple and warm gold-toned movement, but compared with more heavily marked Viola selections, Monet generally shows softer transitions, less dense dark veining and more visible pale stone between the markings.

Available in 610 × 305 × 10mm rectangular and 610 × 610 × 10mm square formats, the collection is designed for broader tiled surfaces where the marble’s individual pattern can be appreciated without being broken up by numerous grout joints.

What can you achieve with Calacatta Viola Monet?

The larger formats help create a calmer interpretation of an expressive marble.

The 610 × 305mm rectangular tile introduces a clear direction to the layout while retaining relatively few joints. Installed horizontally, it can emphasise the width of a wall or floor; used vertically, it can help draw the eye upwards.

The 610 × 610mm square creates an even broader visual field. Its balanced proportions give each individual tile more space to display the transition between pale marble and stronger Viola movement, making it particularly useful where the stone itself should provide the pattern.

Both formats have a honed finish, keeping reflection comparatively restrained so the colour and natural veining remain the main visual features.

Where does this collection work best?

Calacatta Viola Monet is suitable for interior walls and floors, including bathrooms and kitchens, and can be used with underfloor heating.

In bathrooms, it works particularly well across shower walls, floors, bath surrounds and vanity backdrops where larger tiles can reduce visual interruption and allow the stone to carry the scheme. Warm oak or walnut vanity units can complement the gold-toned movement, while white sanitaryware provides a quieter background to the purple and magenta veining.

In kitchens, the collection can be used across floors or selected wall areas and works well where natural marble is intended to connect with pale cabinetry, warm wood or restrained metal finishes.

It can also suit hallways, cloakrooms and living spaces where a patterned marble surface is wanted without the denser appearance of a more heavily veined Viola selection.

Why choose this exact Viola marble collection?

The key distinction is the Monet selection itself.

Calacatta Viola Monet retains the recognisable colour movement of Viola marble, but its softer transitions and larger areas of off-white stone create more visual breathing space. This makes it particularly useful for customers who like the burgundy, purple and gold character of Viola but want a slightly quieter overall surface across a larger area.

The 610mm formats reinforce that quality by showing larger sections of the marble rather than fragmenting the pattern into smaller tiles.

Because this is natural stone, individual tiles will still vary substantially in tone, veining and movement. Samples are useful for understanding the general material direction, but they cannot represent every tile within an order. Dry laying before fixing allows the pieces to be arranged as a complete composition.

Which Starel Stones products complement Calacatta Viola Monet?

The strongest same-family finishing products are the Calacatta Viola Monet Marble Dado Moulding and Calacatta Viola Monet Marble Skirting.

The dado moulding provides a raised architectural border that can cap half-height tiling, divide adjoining wall finishes or frame a niche or feature section. Its 305 × 40 × 15mm honed profile gives it more presence than a slim trim.

The matching skirting provides a substantial marble finish at the base of the wall, helping the Monet material direction continue through to the wall-to-floor junction.

For a more varied Viola scheme, selected Calacatta Viola mosaics can introduce smaller-scale pattern in niches or decorative areas, but these should be treated as complementary rather than exact Monet matches.

Where larger bespoke elements are required, Viola-family marble slabs may also be considered for vanity tops, splashbacks, fireplaces or furniture through Starel Atelier, with the exact slab selected individually for colour and vein movement.

Before ordering and installation

Calacatta Viola Monet marble requires sealing. Use stone-compatible adhesive, grout and pH-neutral cleaning products, and confirm installation requirements for the intended application.

Dry lay the tiles before fixing to review natural variation and vein distribution. For floors and wet areas, consider the complete installation system, including substrate preparation, fixing, sealing and final finish.

Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.

All marble products are suitable for bathroom and shower use. Please seal the product upon installation.

Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.

Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:

  • Visualise the overall layout
  • Balance colour and pattern variations
  • Ensure the best placement of each tile

Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.

Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.

We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.

To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.

We recommend using the grout we supply. These Mapei products are specifically formulated for marble and high-end materials, ensuring the best finish and long-term performance.
We recommend using the adhesive listed below, which we supply. It is specifically suitable for marble, compatible with underfloor heating, and features a rapid setting time, essential, as the adhesive must be fully dry before sealing or grouting.
We recommend using a wet saw with a premium diamond blade.
We strongly advise that you do not book a tiler, plumber or tradespeople before your order arrives and we recommend you receive and check items from us before making any arrangements.
