The Pietra Grey Marble Tile Collection is a honed natural marble surface for customers who want a darker neutral with more depth and movement than a uniform grey tile. Its warm grey background is crossed by contrasting white natural veining, giving the stone a clear architectural character while remaining versatile enough to work with wood, pale marble and quieter neutral finishes.
The collection is currently offered in a 305 × 305 × 10mm square format. This regular proportion creates a balanced grid across walls and floors and allows the marble’s veining to become part of the layout without the stronger directional effect of a long rectangular tile.
What can you achieve with Pietra Grey marble tiles?
Pietra Grey is particularly useful when you want the floor or wall to add definition without moving into a black or highly coloured stone.
The square 305 × 305mm format produces a clear geometric rhythm, making it suitable for complete floors, feature walls and more structured tiled layouts. Because each tile is large enough to show natural veining but compact enough to repeat across the surface, the finished installation develops from the relationship between individual pieces.
The honed finish keeps reflection comparatively controlled and gives the grey marble a softer appearance than a polished surface. This allows the warm grey background and white veining to remain the main visual features.
Where does Pietra Grey work best?
The collection is suitable for interior walls and floors, including bathrooms and kitchens, and is compatible with underfloor heating.
In bathrooms, Pietra Grey can be used across floors, shower walls, bath surrounds or vanity areas. Its deeper grey tone works particularly well with white sanitaryware, warm oak or walnut vanity units and pale marble details, creating contrast without the visual weight of a fully black stone.
In kitchens, it can create a defined natural-stone floor or selected tiled wall surface and can help ground lighter cabinetry or worktops.
The collection can also work well in hallways, cloakrooms and living spaces where a grey natural stone surface is intended to provide structure and material depth.
Why choose this exact marble tile collection?
The main reason to choose Pietra Grey is its balance of neutrality and visible natural character.
A plain grey manufactured tile can create colour without much variation. Pietra Grey brings white veining and tonal shifts through the stone itself, so the surface feels more individual and less repetitive.
The 305 × 305mm square format is also useful where a regular grid is preferred to a larger rectangular layout. It gives the tile enough scale to display its natural movement while retaining a clear geometric structure across the room.
Because Pietra Grey is natural marble, colour, tone, veining and pattern will vary between individual pieces. Samples provide a useful indication of the general appearance but cannot represent every tile within an order. Dry laying before fixing allows the installer to balance stronger and quieter pieces across the finished surface.
Which Starel Stones products complement Pietra Grey?
For a same-material decorative option, the Pietra Grey Geo Marble Mosaic introduces smaller-scale geometric pattern while retaining the broader Pietra Grey stone direction. It can work particularly well within niches, splashbacks or selected feature areas.
The Pietra Grey Celeste Marble Herringbone Mosaic provides a more directional alternative, allowing the grey palette to continue through a finer patterned surface.
For stronger contrast, the Calacatta White and Pietra Grey Octagon Mosaic combines pale Calacatta marble with deeper Pietra Grey and small black accents. This makes it a useful bridge between grey and white marble elsewhere in the room.
Starel also carries Pietra Grey Dado Mouldings, providing a more architectural finishing or dividing detail for tiled walls.
These products should be treated as coordinated natural stone rather than guaranteed identical matches, as tone, veining and finish can vary.
Before ordering and installation
Pietra Grey marble requires sealing. Use stone-compatible adhesive, grout and pH-neutral cleaning products, and confirm the installation requirements for the intended application.
Order a sample as a guide and dry lay the tiles before fixing. For floors and wet areas, assess the complete installation system, including substrate preparation, sealing and the intended use of the finished surface.
Yes! All our marble tiles and mosaics are suitable with underfloor heating.
Yes, we highly recommend dry laying your marble tiles before fixing them in place. Marble is a natural stone, and each tile is unique in its veining, tone, and pattern. Unlike man-made tiles, marble pieces are not identical, which is part of their beauty.
Dry laying means arranging all the tiles on the floor before applying adhesive, so you can:
Skipping this step can lead to an uneven appearance, as tiles placed at random may clash in tone or pattern. Taking the time to dry lay ensures a more harmonious and professional finish.
Yes. All natural stone products, including marble, limestone, and onyx, require sealing to maintain their appearance and durability.
We recommend sealing the tiles after installation, once the adhesive is fully dry. This protects the marble from grout staining. After grouting, allow the grout to cure, then clean the tiles thoroughly and apply a final coat of stone sealer to protect both the tile and grout.
To keep your surfaces in top condition, reseal every 1–3 years, depending on usage and wear.
